Kids get to be the scientists! Mom and dad are welcome to help! Join museum educators as they bring science down to earth and then across the universe. Friday, November 2, 2018 ~ Launch Pad Lecture: From the Earth to the Moon

The Launch Pad Lecture Series is held on the first Friday of each month on the first floor of the Museum and is FREE to attend! Museum staff, and sometimes special guest speakers, discuss topics ranging from space history to space future! This Lecture is titled “From the Earth to the Moon: Science Fiction to Science Fact” and is presented by Museum Educator, Michael Shinabery! Coffee and donuts provided! Wednesday, October 24, 2018 ~ Wine Down Wednesday

Wine Down on a hump day! Grab your friends and come on out to Heart of the Desert’s Patio for some live music and your favorite Heart of the Desert wine or craft brew! Live music from Ashleigh Addison in the style of blue/new grass from the Deep South, indie folk, original songs, and African drumming songs. There will be a $7 cover at the door. Papa Jim’s Snack Shack will be onsite offering different dinner options! Gourmet snacks such as cheese, crackers, sausage, pistachios, and chocolate will also be available for purchase from Heart of the Desert. A very special Storytime in honor of Halloween!!! Dress up as your favorite spooky characters- or favorite anything!- and come down for half an hour of fun stories read by classic Halloween characters, Morticia Addams, Mavis Dracula, and Coraline Jones, followed by a Give & Treat where the characters and kids will walk around the Mall giving candy to the workers! Sunday, October 14, 2018 ~ The Art of Wine

Head over to the Heart of the Desert for a fun day of instructor supervised acrylic painting on canvas while enjoying a glass of wine! No painting experience required! Xochitl Flores will be instructing and your canvas and tools will be provided. An apron or smock is recommended for you to wear so your clothes will be safe. Afternoon starts with a wine tasting and a glass of wine for you to take back to your station. Tickets are $35 a person and must be purchased prior to the event. The 2018 Car/Truck Show and Expo is full of fun raffles, prizes, music, food and drinks, and, of course, cool cars, trucks, and motorcycles! Free and open to the public. Third Saturday of the Month

This monthly meeting is free and open to the public. Adult meeting is at 1 pm and Youth meeting is at 3 pm. Meetings are held at Gerald Champion Regional Medical Center in meeting rooms 3 and 4.

BUSINESS IMPACT/GOVERNMENT RELATIONS
Second Tuesday of the Month

This monthly meeting is free and open to the public. Join the committee to discuss issues, events and that could influence the community. This event is the second Tuesday of each month in the Alamogordo Chamber of Commerce Conference Room at 8 am.

TRANSPORTATION COMMITTEE
Last Friday of the Month

This committee discusses land and air transportation issues impacting the Tularosa Basin. The committee meets the last Friday of each month at Pepper’s Grill at noon.
